jerasue @ 10:59 am: Stitchin' Madison, Milwaukee, Chicago areas...
Anyone up for an area-wide Stitch 'n' Bitch (and the like) meetup?!

I think it would rock off our proverbial socks!

I'm thinking April or May-ish.

Sleep on it and email me.

I'd love to go to a stash swap... I have a bunch of really nice yarn I don't particularly like... has anyone ever organized one around here?

orora25 @ 12:33 pm: Shameless call for donations
I'm a volunteer at Tree House Animal Foundation, one of the oldest shelters in Chicago. Tree House is a no-kill, cageless shelter, specializing in taking in sick, injured and stray cats. This year at our annual holiday open house/fundraiser, Lights of Love, we're adding a craft table to sell wares made by our volunteers. Guess who's heading up the committee to solicit donations. While I'm new to this group I know that there are a great number of animal lovers who also happen to be knitters. Anyone who would be interested in donating a finished item for us to sell would earn my eternal thanks, many kitty purrs, and some excellent karma; you will also be more than welcome at the event itself to see what Tree House is all about. For more information about donating an item, please email me.

elizabethsits @ 01:17 pm: another new member
my name is elizabeth and i'm moving to chicago in november. I currently work in a yarn shop and i have become quite close with all of my ladies, and i would love to work at another yarn shop in the city. i've been looking online and i have yet to find any that have the cozy, close knit atmostphere i'm used to. i reaize that most yarn shops aren't online, but if you guys could help me find a quaint little shop in the city i would love it! i've done some spinning too, which is a delight.
i'll post some of my accomplishments next time! good luck to all of you!

mladymaru @ 10:47 pm: Very Tall Socks=Very Stiff Socks?
Hello! I'm working on Knitty.com's Very Tall Socks. I was looking through the pattern, and I read that the gauge is U.S. #2?! That sounds like it would make the socks as stiff as a board, considering the suggested gauge for the suggested yarn is #8! Has anyone else tried this pattern? Did you modify it at all? What worked for you? Help, please?
